Selina Davis Season 2 Episode 1

New series: Finding time for you

This week we are talking about dedicating a time for you.  Do you struggle to get you time in?  What does that look like for you? and can you keep a consistent schedule.

Like me I really had to be intentional with this area of my life and I'm still not 100% there but definitely more conscious of the need for it in my life and I'm sure you will value it to.

Listen in as we have a chat about this and hope this blesses you.

Selina Davis:

Hey, It's your girl Selina Davis host of Butt-Naked wisdom coming to you with another series and we're going to be talking about finding time for you. So the next coming sessions will be about looking at how we can find time for ourselves, and what that looks like for us individually. So today, I really want us to really home in on dedicating time to you. So what does that look like? You know, it's very hard when you have a life that is full of, you know, work if you've got kids, and just the hustle and bustle of life in general, is very hard. And I'm, I'm a victim of that is finding time for yourself. So what you need to do is really be intentional with, do you want that time number one? And how can you claim that time for yourself. And sometimes, you may feel guilty, especially us mums and parents that, you know, we feel like we can't have that time to ourselves. But I believe it's very, very important that we start to carve out enough time to be us and enough time to spend with ourselves. And really just be intentional with that time. So there are a few things that I have tried to do to help me to carve out particular times in the month in the week. And one of the things I've done is really just really home and dedicated a day. So I've looked at what day in a month, I want to claim as my own. And for me, it started from my birthday, actually, and I've just used that date as the day that I claim my own time. So whatever it is that I want to do on that day, then that's the day that I'm going to do it no matter what's going on in my life. You could also make sure that when you are planning out your week, you can carve out some time. So when you're planning your week out, you know that the things that go on in your day, you know, the, you know, your elearning, or you are homeschooling or taking your kids to school and you know you've got your work, you've got meetings, and you've got so many things that occupy your day outside of just functioning and cooking and things like that. So what can you do in that day that carves out time for yourself, and it could be half an hour a day, it could be 15 minutes a day, it could be a whole day, whatever that looked like for you really be intentional. And I'm using that word intentional, because it's something that will allow you then to create a habit, which means that you will be consistent with it, which then means it becomes part and parcel of what you do as your life is planned out. So what can you do in your day? Where can you see that your time is literally kind of in limbo and things are not really happening with for you in that particular hour or in that particular time of your day, then really carve that time out and be intentional and say this is the time I'm going to do and spend for myself, and I'm going to use this time to dedicate on me. So not only do you carve out that time, not only do you potentially dedicate a day or every single day, however that looks like for you also be intention of what you do in that time. Tell yourself in that time, these are the things I'm going to accomplish. These are the things I'm going to do. Whether it's you know, self care, whether it is meditation, whether it is literally reading or edifying your mind, whatever it might be for you. sports activities, crafts, whatever it might be, be intentional, not only with the time that you dedicate to that for yourself, but also be intentional with what you do in that time. Because then again, it becomes intentional, and you are going to do those things because you have set a task out for yourself and carve that time out for yourself specifically. So just two things, find a day, find an hour within your day or your week, however that may look like for you. And number two, be intentional with what you do within that time period. And it's really important that you do that. And I would say set that that thing out for yourself in a month. You know, plan, you know, put that in your planner for the month, put that in your planner for the next three months. You know, give yourself an appointment as you would schedule a meeting, schedule that into your calendar and ensure that your alarms are belling off, when it is when i comes to that time so that y u can really be productive in t at time and feel as if you've r ally taken the time to you k ow, look after yourself and a d spend some time for you. So I hope that this has helped you. I really want us to look at ways t you know, take time for o rselves as we continue on with o her episodes that will be a ound this kind of topic. So I h pe you have an amazing day. A azing evening. Amazing part of y ur day whenever it is that you m y be listening to this. God b ess you speak to you soon. I l ok forward to speaking to you o our next episode.
