Finding time for you: Are you exhausted?

Selina Davis Season 2 Episode 2

New Series: Finding time for you

This session we are looking into exhaustion.   Know that saying we say as an adult "I'm so exhausted" is like ordering a cup of coffee at Starbucks.  We throw it around and know we feel it but rarely do anything to change it.

So many things lead to us feeling exhausted and in this episode we identify some of these areas.  We must first be intentional to want to change or we will keep feeling this way.

Listen in as we have a quick chat about this.

Be Blessed.

Selina Davis:

Hey, It's your girl Selina Davis host of Butt-Naked wisdom coming to you with another episode and we are continuing on finding time for you, today we actually going to be talking about exhaustion. You know, it's a word that we've used. And as we get older, we use this word, I'm exhausted quite a lot. So what does it really mean? It means that you're drained of one's physical or mental resource, so you're very tired, or you're completely used up, you know, we have been in a time where we're just constantly on the go, constantly going, going, going, going like an energizer bunny that just never stops. And, you know, with any battery, it gets dead to a point. And that's how we can become exhausted when we don't take time to just really stop in our lives. And I believe that this last year, and even as we continue through the new year that you know, life is stil on a sloward moving forwar paced, and you know, many o us are still within quaran ine restrictions, some of us are potentially coming out, in a s nse, but we are still living in a different world right ow. And we are creating what i going to become our new norm. o this word exhaustion is that w are now just more in isolat on, to be completely honest we were would be at work, nd we'll be around our collea ues or you'll be around friend a lot more. And people could ind of, you know, notice these hings within you and you know, otentially even tell you DO YOU ARE YOU exhausted, you look r ally tired. But when you're at home, and you know, you're just plodding along, you don't ealize that you still can be exh usted even being at home. And I hink it just intensifies even m re, because you are consta tly under the same routin every single day. And, you kn w, you just keep going. And fo some people, unfort nately, you know, you just k nd of want the day to go. And yo know, you may not really have a lot of plans during your day. B t you just want the day to kee going and going and going. And it's one of those things that you just don't realiz that you are mentally exhaus ed. So I just want to give y u some key pointers on what y u can do some things that you ca potentially help that could otentially help you. So the fi st thing I would say is, are yo eating right, you know, I'm gu lty of this, I don't net direct y eat very well as in, you kn w, they say three meals a day, I don't eat three meals a day, a d I may not eat the right things during the day. So what are yo eating in your day? Are those hings really helping create the energy that you need within your body? Are they health, you know, you we do need t start making some more health er decisions when it comes o our food. So what is it that y u are eating, so we'll be lookin at your eating habits. Anothe thing because we have been a home, we are putting on some w ight. And you know, you may no want to hear this. But you kn w, that can also help doesn' help with feeling tired and ex austed. Because we have been a home and we are cooking or tak ng out food. And you know, e're creatures of comfor. So if food is something that m kes you comfortable, you are bi ge eating, watching the TV wat hing different series is on you Netflix etc. So your eating habits can obviously amount to weight loss, weight gain. o that could be something that y u should be looking at and ad ressing. Are you doing things such as exercising in the mornin where possible so that you ca start chipping away at some o that weight? And obviou ly with the right way of eating that will help too. Now? Are yo sleeping? Are you sleepi g? A good number of hours that i right for your body? For many p ople that are doing multip e different things may not be getting the right amount of hou s of sleep. I know they say ei ht hours is you know, a great mount of hours, some of us are only getting five hours of sle p. So are you getting enough sleep? And do you feel tired hen you wake up? Are you feelin exhausted even when you wake u off to sleep? And so even i sleep, you may not be restin? Is your mind still going? What are you doing prior to goi g to bed so that your mind i at peace when you are sleepi g? You know, I think it's really important that you we don't ave devices like TV's on prior o us sleeping or you know our ph nes and we are all guilty of it. I'm guilty of it. When you ha e your phone in your face just b fore you fall asleep. That d esn't really create the right tmosphere and setting for you to have a healthy sleeping period that your body needs to really switch off so they do say an hou before you want to go to bed. R ally just switch off from any de ices and just really create a very zen time for yourse f, you know, whether you're meditating, even reading before going to sleep, just spendi g a moment before that time o going down to sleep, you should really look at what can you do to help yourself gain a much b tter sleep habit. Another thing would say is obviously, stress stress can definitely lead t exhaustion, we know, you know, he pressures of our jobs and fi ances definitely lead to stress ul moments, relati nships, you know, just the up and downs of school routin s, those things are defini ely things that aid toward stress. So look at areas in you life where you may be able t reduce those stress factor. And, you know, make those onscious decisions to change anything about those situat ons, so that you can have a more stress free life, water, you kn w, drinking water goes with t e eating healthy as well cuttin out coffee, you know, there' so many different things that w are doing, that can aid to rew rd stress, and bring that upon o rselves. Medication also could e something that is draini g us and just, you know, someti es we do need to go and get ou selves checked out to make s re that we are not, you know, uffering from anything in turn, r that could be affecting feelin s of exhaustion onto our body. o I would say, definitely look a ways that you can retrea, reduce any things in your l fe, that is creating stress or exhaustion and making you fe l fatigued, so that you can re lly, you know, have a much m re healthier day, within your t me that you have. And, you kn w, really look at what you ca do to change some things in you life, to reduce any feelin s of exhaustion, because I don' think we want to be exhaus ed. So I hope that this has he ped you. I hope that you find s mething within this that potent ally you can change for yourse f, and that it aids toward becoming a much better versio of who you are. So we can ha e a great year and I want you ju t to be intentional about every ingle day and every single month this year that you have s en. Yes, I've made a change Yes, I did this. And this h s led to a much better feelin. I'm not as exhausted as I used to be. So just being intent onal about ourselves, and taking time to really find time to bet er who we are. So I hope that t is has helped you. God bless ou speak to you soon and look f rward to speaking to you on our next episode. Great NEW's my New book 'What's Stopping you?
